Job advertisement We are looking for a DIRECTOR OF MISSION (DoM) (m/f/d) – Volunteer position. We are a civilian aid organisation founded in 2015 in response to people dying in the Mediterranean Sea. We search for people in distress on the world’s deadliest refugee route and fight against the daily loss of life at sea with our rescue boat. We are convinced: "Every life counts!" Sea-Eye’s office is in Regensburg but as many of our employees live throughout Germany and beyond, we mostly work remotely. Our teamwork takes place digitally and by telephone. The SAROPS (Search And Rescue OperationS) department is responsible for the strategic conceptual design and practical implementation of our rescue operations at sea. TASKS As part of the Director of Mission team, you provide support for the Head of Mission of Sea-Eye 4 and/or Sea-Eye 5 during a mission period of three to four weeks in alternating on-call duty shifts. After an introduction phase, you work in close collaboration with the HoM during SAR operations and provide support regarding contact with MRCCs, rescue procedures, internal document management, and SAR related topics. Media monitoring: You conduct news research about political and SAR related topics prior and during the missions and provide frequent updates to the HoM. Provide frequent updates to the Sea-Eye board member about the mission. PROFILE Relevant experiences in SAR (at least two missions) and nautical skills. Preferably participant of the Head-of-Mission Trainee Program from Sea-Eye. Quick comprehension and decision-making skills. Good stress resistance in overwhelming and difficult situations.
