We’re partnering with a global pioneer in cardiac surgery solutions to find a Hardware Engineer (EMC Specialist) for a high-impact contract role. Role Overview: As a Hardware Engineer (EMC Specialist) , you’ll be at the forefront of developing state-of-the-art cardiac surgical devices, such as heart-lung machines and Auto Transfusion Systems. You'll lead all things EMC, ensuring compliance with stringent global standards while collaborating closely with cross-disciplinary teams. In addition to driving EMC projects, you’ll also contribute to hardware design and development, creating complex electrical systems that impact patient care worldwide. Key Responsibilities: EMC Leadership : Lead all EMC activities for the Hardware/Software team, including planning and conducting pre-compliance and formal compliance tests (EN 60601-1-2). Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with Software, Mechanical, and System teams to ensure successful product development and regulatory approvals. Hands-On Testing : Conduct EMC testing in accredited labs, troubleshoot issues, and devise countermeasures to meet global standards. Hardware Design : Design and optimize electrical hardware and PCB schematics/layouts, and support the development of new systems and prototypes. Compliance Expertise : Be the go-to EMC expert for gap assessments, certification body engagement, and continuous improvement of compliance processes. What We’re Looking For: Experience & Education : Bachelor's/Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 7+ years (Bachelor’s) or 5+ years (Master’s) in electronic systems development. Standards Guru : Mastery of EU, US, and international medical standards (IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485, RoHS) and EMC/EMI tests (conducted emissions, ESD, immunity, etc.). Technical Proficiency : Familiar with ECAD tools (Mentor PADS, Altium), transducer interfacing, power supplies, microprocessor-based designs, and communication protocols (CAN, RS232, RS422). Problem-Solver & Leader : Able to independently lead test activities, troubleshoot complex issues, and work with third-party suppliers and test houses. Communication & Collaboration : Excellent written and verbal skills; English proficiency required (German a plus).
